This season, we are pleased to welcome on board our new Musical Director, Andrew Nunn.Andrew received his BMus (Hons) degree from the RSAMD and followed this up with a MMus (Performance) degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. At present he is studying on the Master of Music (Conducting) course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland specialising in choral music. Since September 2007, Andrew has been the conductor of the highly acclaimed Les Sirènes Female Chamber Choir who were the winners of the 2012 Choir of the Year Competition. In February 2013 he became the Conducting Fellow of the National Youth Choir of Scotland, funded by the BBC Performing Arts Fund. Alongside these roles, Andrew is currently conductor of the following choirs:
Thomas Coats Memorial Choral Society- a large choral society based in Paisley, and which performs concerts with orchestra
Hutchesons’ Choral Society- a large choral society based at Hutchesons Grammar School, and which performs concerts with orchestra
Carlisle Community Choir- a new open access choir initiative to bring communities and people together through choral music
Andrew is also Assistant Conductor of the Yorkshire Youth Choir, working with John Pryce-Jones on the choir’s annual summer and Easter residential courses and he also conducts the choirs of the Junior Department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Andrew is “Incredibly excited by my new appointment as Musical Director of the Bearsden Choir and I am so looking forward to getting started on what I know will be a fantastic first season of concerts”.
For our first concert of 2015-16 we shall be working on a masterpiece from the end of the eighteenth century, Haydn’s Mass in D Minor, now known as the Nelson Mass, but to its composer as Missa in Angustiis, Mass for Times of Distress.
